The global demand for fine wine, which is produced in very small quantities, has increased enormously over the last two decades. Wine can, and often has, outperformed the FTSE 100 and the Dow Jones, offering significant returns without the volatility of the stock market. Records going back over 250 years, show that fine wine has remained one of the steadiest forms of investment in the world, generally unaffected by stock market fluctuations and interest rate changes.

Fine wine is an emotional journey, from the passion of the vineyard workers and winemakers who pour their hearts and souls into creating liquid art, to that of the appreciative wine connoisseur. However, all this loving care and attention would all be for nothing if a wine is not stored with equal care and respect. Fine wines benefit from medium to long-term ageing, where tannins, oak and fruit integrate and the wine reaches its optimum quality.

The first wine that is available exclusively to Foyle Valley Wine Club members is:

Louis Roederer is one of the largest remaining independent Champagnes Houses, owned by the same family since it was founded in 1776. The jewel of the House is Cristal, created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II. This is champagne at its finest, as inspired today as it has always been the embodiment of elegance and purity. Cristal is made according to the strictest criteria, based on a drastic process of selection applying to the vintage, the cru, the village, the grapes and finally the wines. Only Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes from the House's 10 most celebrated crus are used in the production of this legendary cuvée.
